Canoeing and kayaking on the Indre or the Loire

Between unspoiled nature and exceptional heritage, the Indre and Loire offer getaways that are as peaceful as they are exotic. By canoe or kayak, let yourself be carried by the current and discover castles, mills, and the surrounding nature with a new perspective. Head for two unmissable excursions to enjoy along the water!

Book your room at the Best Western Premier Hôtel de la Cité Royale in Loches before setting off to explore the Indre and Loire by canoe and kayak!

Canoe and kayak trips on the Indre

Navigating the Indre means choosing a peaceful, green river, perfect for contemplative strolls.
From the Veigné water sports center, two routes are available:
  • A short route between Esvres and Veigné (approximately 5 km - 1.5 to 2 hours).
  • A longer loop to Montbazon (10 km - 3 to 4 hours).

The river winds through the trees, revealing pretty mills, flower-filled banks, and a rich fauna: herons, dragonflies, fish, and sometimes even deer.
Take a picnic break on the banks of Veigné between paddle strokes!

Discover the Loire aboard a canoe/kayak

If you prefer majestic landscapes, head for the Loire! Wider and livelier, it offers exceptional viewpoints.
Starting with the castles of Montsoreau and Saumur, which proudly overlook the valley, or Candes-Saint-Martin, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France.
From Chinon, you can also sail up the Vienne River, skirting the royal fortress, and stopping for a refreshing drink at the waterfront open-air café.
The alternation of wild nature and iconic monuments gives this walk a unique charm.
After a sporty day gliding along the water, head to the La Cour des Saveurs restaurant at the Hôtel de la Cité Royale in Loches to enjoy refined and innovative cuisine!
