"By deliberately combining the old and the new, the Hier & Aujourd'hui Festival continues its adventure by programming major works from the classical and contemporary repertoires as well as new music.
This year, works by Galina Ustvolskaya, Lera Auerbach, Bushra El Türk, Arvo Pärt and Camille Pépin rub shoulders with those by Bach, Beethoven, Smetana, Bartók and Schubert.
The flamboyant work of Marie Jaëll (1846-1925), recently unearthed, lies somewhere between these 2 poles, her genre having kept her off the music stands until now.
Against the backdrop of a polarising era, the works and artists programmed at the Hier & Aujourd'hui festival convert the arbitrary antagonism of the new and the old into an ardent association.
For this fourth edition, there are some loyalties because they are promises of epiphanies; on 18 July we'll be seeing pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid - invited in 2022 - in solo and duo performances with cellist Olivia Gay.
Every year, the festival brings together artists of international renown, and for the first time, it will welcome the remarkable Greenwich Trio on 19 July, with violinist Lana Trotovšek - invited in 2021 and 2022 - and the Mona Quartet, who will close this 4th edition on 20 July".
